[Editor’s Note: The restaurant officially opened on Friday, February 3 after getting its final permit.] An eagerly anticipated new restaurant in Sterling is on the verge of officially opening its doors. Local Provisions bills itself as a neighborhood “hearth & grill” and it’s getting ready to welcome the community.

We say eagerly anticipated in part because of the location Local Provisions has chosen. They are opening in the Cascades Marketplace shopping center off Palisade Parkway in Sterling.

The center is one of the older retail centers in Loudoun County and has lost more tenants in recent years than it has added. New management is planing to revitalize the center — and the announcement of Local Provisions was seen as a harbinger of things to come.

We’ve got a look at the Local Provisions menus and it’s chock full of easily approachable comfort food — but with a bit of a “foodie” element as well.

There’s a hearty Rigatoni Bolognese, but there’s also a Char-Grilled Octopus. There’s a dish called Chicken Under a Brick served with coal roasted potatoes and there’s also a Lamb Burger.

Fresh baked bread is one of their staples as well. Plus there is a full bar with a variety of cocktails, wines by the glass and beers. You can see the full menu at the bottom of this story.

You may hear some folks raving about the meals they have had at Local Provisions. The restaurant held a few practice dinners in recent days. But right now, they are waiting on their final permits before they can officially open to the general public.

That could happen as soon as tomorrow — Friday, February 3 — so keep an eye out. And fingers crossed Local Provisions is the first of many good things for Cascades Marketplace.
