KCRA Today: Racist Instagram post at Dixon school, Newsom seeks limits on concealed guns, $1.3 billion expansion at SMF
TEO: GOOD MORNING. IT’S THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2. I’M TEO TORRES. HERE’S A LOOK AT OUR BIG STORIES TODAY. CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS WANT TO LIMIT WHERE CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS CAN HAVE THEIR GUNS. STATE LEADERS INTRODUCED A BILL SIMILAR TO ONE THAT FAILED IN THE LAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION. THE MEASURE WOULD BAN CONCEALED GUNS FRO CHURCHES, ZOOS, SPORTS VENUES, BANKS, AND OTHER PRIVATE BUSINESSES THAT ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THE PROPOSAL MAKES AN EXCEPTION FOR BUSINESSES THAT POST A SIGN SAYING CONCEALED GUNS ARE ALLOWED. THE NEW VERSION OF THE MEASURE WOULD NOT TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY, REQUIRING A SIMPLE MAJORITY OF STATE LAWMAKERS TO APPROVE. NEW CHANGES ARE COMING TO SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. A $1.3 BILLION EXPANSION PROJECT WILL RESHAPE THE AIRPORT. SOME OF THE UPGRADES INCLUDE IMPROVING THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY, ADDITIONAL GATES AND ADDITIONAL PARKING GARAGES. THAT IS A GREAT IDEA. AIRPORT OFFICIALS TO HAVE ALL THE PROJECTS COMPLETED BY THE END OF 2027. PEOPLE IMPACTED BY THE RECENT WINTER STORMS MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE FOOD BENEFITS. THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES SAYS A FAMILY OF FOUR, WITH A MONTHLY INCOME OF UP TO $3100 PER MONTH MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE MORE THAN 900 DOLLARS IN FOOD BENEFITS. IT’S THROUGH THE DISASTER CAL-FRESH PROGRAM. YOU CAN SEE THE COUNTIES WHERE THE PROGRAM IS ACTIVE. THIS WOULD BE FOR FAMILIES WHO ARE NOT ALREADY ON CAL-FRESH. PRE-REGISTRATION IS ON SATURDAY. LET’S GET A CHECK OF OUR FORECAST. TAMARA: WELCOME TO YOUR THURSDAY. STILL A CHILLY MORNING START. WE ARE WATCHING HIGH THIN CLOUDS GO ACROSS OUR SKY. TODAY IS GOING TO LOOK AND REALLY NOT FEEL MUCH DIFFERENT. WE HAD HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50’S TODAY. TODAY WE ARE GOING TO BE ABOUT THE SAME. IT IS GOING TO BE ON A PARTLY CLOUDY SCALE WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 50’S. OUR HIGHS TODAY IS CLIMBING IN
