College football recruiting: Biggest winners and losers from signing day

National Signing Day has come and gone for college football recruiting and here’s a breakdown of the biggest winners and losers. 

National Signing Day certainly didn’t disappoint when it came to college football recruiting as there were a number of surprises on Wednesday.

The biggest news was the fact that five-star Nyckoles Harbor finally made a decision and signed with the South Carolina Gamecocks. Harbor, who is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound athlete is one of the top players in the 2023 college football recruiting class and a huge get for the Gamecocks.

Harbor was the biggest name to find a new school on Thursday but far from the only one as Jaden Rashada went to Arizona State and a number of other four-star recruits found new homes.

Five-star Duce Robinson is still out there so the 2023 college football recruiting class isn’t technically wrapped up, but after National Signing Day and the late period, here are the biggest winners and losers.

Winner: South Carolina

Landing Harbor was the icing on the cake but South Carolina put together a really good recruiting class in 2024. The Gamecocks are ranked 16th in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2023 and have 12 blue-chip players (4 of five-star recruits).

Harbor is the only one ranked in the top 100, yet the fact that Shane Beamer was able to beat out Oregon, Michigan, and LSU for one of the players in the country is huge.

The Gamecocks are trending up and who knows, we might see Harbor, who runs the 100-meter dash is sub 10.3, catching passes from Spencer Rattler next season. That’s the hope at least as South Carolina continues to trend up.
