A fire in a mechanics shop in Lebanon was quickly put out thanks to the help of a thermal imaging camera, the Lebanon Fire District said in a news release.
Firefighters arrived to the shop on Airway Road Wednesday evening to find heavy black smoke coming from the eves of a 40x60 steel building.
Initial reports from dispatch were that three people were inside the building when it caught fire. Firefighters spoke with a resident in the driveway who reported that there was only a single person inside attempting to extinguish the fire.
The person in the building was located and evacuated so firefighters could extinguish the fire. Hose lines were deployed and a thermal imaging camera was used to find multiple hotspots.
Firefighters removed insulation in the roof area and walls to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire in under investigation.
The Lebanon Fire District was assisted at the scene by Lebanon Police Department and CPI, while Albany Fire Department helped cover additional 911 calls for the citizens of Lebanon.
Lebanon Firefighters would like to remind its citizens not to attempt extinguishing a out of control fire, but to call 911 quickly.
