PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio

Underage drinking: Pearl Road

On Jan. 10, police were dispatched to a Pearl Road gas station regarding a disturbance between a man and a woman in a Honda located in the parking lot.

An arriving officer talked to the caller, who said the crying woman had entered the store several times. Not only was she drunk, but the woman told the caller about how the man had assaulted her while they were at a bar.

The officer talked to the man, who had a temporary driver’s permit and denied any physical violence. He told the officer that the woman had become upset after losing her cell phone.

That’s when the police learned that the man, 21, had purchased alcohol for the woman, who it turned out was 19 years old.

He was charged with furnishing alcohol to an underage adult. After receiving a citation, the man drove off.

However, because he didn’t have a licensed driver with him in the Honda, the man was also cited for driving with a temporary instruction permit without a licensed driver.

The Honda was towed.
