Hudson Adds Speed Cameras

Hudson will begin issuing tickets to speeders caught by newly installed speed cameras, according to KWWL. The city had three cameras installed at the beginning of January, one each on Ranchero Road, Eldora Road, and West Schrock Road. They are also planning to add one on Highway 63. Drivers caught speeding in January were only issued a warning but those found to be going 10mph over the speed limit will now be given a ticket. There were 2,680 vehicles caught speeding in January. The cameras are operated by a private company. Hudson Police say this allows their small force to do other things throughout the community. Tickets will begin at $75. The city will get 70% of that money while the other 30% will go to the outside company. The legality of speed cameras has often been challenged and their effectiveness has been questioned.
