As of 5:00 am Thursday, rain was falling over much of Brown County as it did most of the night. The streets of Brownwood and Early are in better shape than they were 24 hours ago, but, there are still plenty of icy patches and lots of slush.
The National Weather Service will allow the Ice Storm Warning to expire as scheduled at 6:00 am this morning.
Rain continues to fall over much of the KOXE listening area early this morning. (radar image shown was as of 4:55 am) With temperatures near, or just below freezing, some light freezing rain will linger in the area this morning. Expect ice on vehicles left outdoors.
5:00 am Area Temperatures – 31 at KOXE in Brownwood, 32 in Coleman, 30 in Brady, 32 in San Saba, 31 in Comanche, 32 in Hamilton.
Some roads, especially those untreated, are likely still icy or at least have icy patches.
Temperatures are forecast to slowly climb above freezing this morning to a high near 36 this afternoon, helping to melt leftover ice.
Temperatures tonight are forecast to drop below freezing again to about 27. Leftover water on roads could refreeze leading to icy patches on Friday morning.
