Editor’s note: This is the bottom half of the 22nd and final chapter, “The Downcity Plan,” from Lost Providence. Chapter 22 concludes Part II of the book, whose final two chapters record the two major projects that sparked the Providence renaissance, which followed a series of major hiccups in the city’s development, which have been described in the other chapters of Part II, reprinted here over the past several months. The epilogue, which I’ve not yet decided to reprint, sums up the lessons Providence and other cities should learn from our city’s recent decades of history.

Friars for life! Students, parents, faculty, athletes. Coaches. For some that spirit stays with you for life – for Providence College is a special place, and special to all Rhode Islanders. For students, and alums, instead of waning we find it grows even stronger and builds into a sense of pride – of love, if you will. To love that strongly, “for life”, we are naturally vulnerable to shattering experiences. This week such an experience came seemingly out of nowhere and while losing a beloved coach is sad, this sadness, this anger, has been surprising and unique. It’s left us stung, both from the deed and the process.

The CTE Fair will feature a variety of industry professionals, including Pawtucket Parks and Rec, RI State Police, Collette Tours, Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket, Ocean State Job Lot and many more. Students will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from these companies, learn about job opportunities, network with professionals in their field of interest, and interview for part-time and full-time summer jobs.

Some Brown students want nap pods installed on campus to help address college students’ lack of healthy sleeping habits: “We need more sleep, and installing a few nap pods around campus would help us dream a little sweeter.”

Hello! I’m Tarra and I am about 3 years old, I was found as a stray as we all seem to be. I am a playful girl who LOVES her people, all people, I have many adoring fans. As much as I love people, I am not fond of other dogs BUT I can walk past them and I am very well behaved. With some work, I might get more comfortable with dogs too and I have a friend who can help me with that. I am one of those dogs who really bonds with her people so I will be your best friend! After my playtime, I love to relax and I would be a total couch potato.
