WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – Owen Avrit shot a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Southwestern Invitational Wednesday to earn his fourth top-10 finish in five tournaments this season, the UO reported.
Avrit’s score helped Oregon finish fourth as a team in the opening event of the spring.
No. 20 Texas won the tournament at 14-under 850, followed by No. 14 Pepperdine (863) and No. 4 Arizona State (868). The Ducks closed with a 7-over 295 Wednesday to finish at 872, eight strokes better than fifth-place UCLA and Washington (880).
How It Happened: Avrit was the only player in the field without a bogey on Wednesday. After 14-straight pars, he eagled the par-5 15th hole and closed his round with a birdie on No. 18.
Greyson Leach also birdied No. 15 on his way to a 1-over 73. Nate Stember carded a 3-over 75 for the Ducks.
Overall, Greg Solhaug tied for 19th at 2-over 218. Leach tied for 28th at 223, while Stember tied for 35th at 225.
