North Carolina came out hot with the three-pointers to start the game, but the Panthers were up to the task with no more than 7 points separating the teams the whole game.

Pitt responded by getting hot from three on their own and went into the half with a one point lead.

It was found hell for both teams with 38 total called in the game 21 for Pitt and 17 for UNC, with one technical.

Nelly Cummings propelled the team forward in the second half as he went 5-6 from deep and 8-11 overall.

Cummings would eventually foul out with less than two minutes to play and the game coming down to the wire.

Jamarius Burton hit two crucial free throws with 3 seconds left, giving the Tar Heels almost no chance to come back.

Cummings lead the scoring with 21 points, followed close behind by Burton with 19.

Federiko Federiko had a nice game getting 8 points and 3 blocks.

For UNC, Armando Bacot recorded a double-double and Caleb Love had 22 points, but wasn’t enough to take down a resilient Panthers team.

Pitt improves to 16-7 overall and 9-3 in the ACC, now only behind Clemson and Virginia.

They take on Louisville at home on Tuesday as they look to sweep another ACC team.
