The Stillwater Police Department and the Payne County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of assaulting a woman after he led officers on a chase.
SPD said officers responded to an assault with a dangerous weapon call around noon Tuesday. A victim told officers Donald Laver had threatened to kill her, hit her in the head with a pistol and fired into a wall near the victim.
On Wednesday, PCSO attempted to stop a red Chevrolet Avalanche for speeding. Deputies learned that the truck belonged to Laver, who then fled.
Deputies said Laver eventually lost control of his truck and slid into a ditch near Fairgrounds Road and Glencoe Road. Laver then attempted to flee on foot.
The Stillwater Multi-Jurisdictional Special Operations Team, Stillwater K9's and Stillwater Emergency Management all worked to locate Laver around noon on Wednesday.
He was booked on charges of domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, protective order violation resulting in physical injury, disrupting/preventing/interrupting an emergency telephone call and threatening to perform an act of violence.
