MONROE, N.C. — One person was shot in the Walmart parking lot in Monroe Wednesday night, and Monroe Police say they're looking for a suspect.
Officers responded around 6:20 p.m. and found an 18-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, and as of Thursday morning was in stable but critical condition.
Police said their initial investigation has led them to believe an illegal drug sale was possibly initiated but turned into a robbery. Officers reportedly found a large amount of marijuana with the suspect.
Officers are now looking for possible leads on a black BMW sedan, which reportedly left the scene after the shooting. Police are trying to produce high-quality photos to get a more thorough description.
