Shannon Daves is charged with murdering her boyfriend Michael Evans in their home in 2020.
In opening statements, prosecutors said Daves held power over Evans and Evans had started telling friends he wanted out of the relationship. They said an argument escalated and Evans and Daves pulled out guns after a night of drinking.
Daves' attorney said she shot in self-defense.
The shooting was caught on video by a dog camera.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
