Former jail officer in Blount County indicted in jail assault incident
A former corrections officer in Blount County was indicted in an alleged assault incident in the jail.According to Sheriff Mark Moon, a person was brought to the jail to be booked, and during that process, the person became loud, speaking harshly, but was not violent.The sheriff says it's when a corrections officer chose to go "hands-on" with that person, the detained person began to fight back.Moon said after an investigation, the corrections officer apparently violated the department's use of force policy.Court and jail records show Joseph Snow, 43, is charged with assault.Snow has an arraignment set for June.Moon said Snow has been terminated from the sheriff's office.
