Dave Bautista Is Afraid He’s Too “Unattractive” To Star In A Rom-Com, And The Internet Is Out To Prove Him Wrong

"I don't know. It's just never come my way. I've never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I'll just keep searching."

On Monday, Knock at the Cabin star Dave Bautista told Page Six that he's worried he's too "unattractive" to play the lead in a rom-com. But honestly, he couldn't be more wrong.

Dave stands on the Glass Onion red carpet wearing a suit

He said, "I know I'm not your typical rom-com lead...I'm a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, 'Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?'"

"I don't know. It's just never come my way. I've never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I'll just keep searching."

Dave smiles as he sits during a late-night TV talkshow. Dave is wearing a fedora and several pieces of jewelry on his hands

This isn't the first time he's talked about his dream to star in a rom-com. He tweeted about it back in 2021.

Dave may worry that he's not the right fit for the genre, but his fans (myself included) couldn't disagree more. Here's my pitch:

Dave plays a famous action star who retires from the spotlight and moves to a small town so his daughter can grow up with a "normal life." The daughter, who dreams of being an actor, has a hard time making friends at her new school, so he signs her up for community theater. His love interest is the community theater director, played by Judy Greer, who ropes him into helping her with the production of Cinderella when the actor playing Prince Charming drops out. They initially butt heads, but they realize they're in love when the actor playing Cinderella fails to make it to opening night, forcing Judy to step into the role.

On Twitter, others have been calling for Dave to be cast in a rom-com — and they've been dreaming up their own plots too:

The number of us plotting a Dave Bautista romcom right now OK so here’s my pitch: he’s a softie kindergarten teacher who gets mistaken for a spy and dragged along on a secret summer mission with a grumpy fierce spy who at first hates him but they fall in love a la the show Chuck

Gruff stuntman with a heart of gold Dave Bautista accidentally wanders onto the wrong film set where spiky, recently divorced indie director Sara Ramirez mistakes him for their new assistant - the two show each other new ways to see film, life, and maybe even each other... 1/ https://t.co/YB42hXwzTW

I love Dave Bautista said "maybe I'm not attractive enough for a rom com" and now all of gay Twitter is talking about how they want him to break them in various ways and this is proof they should cast him in one. No notes. You can't argue with the data. Cast him.
