We will read, listen, watch, and show up for anything and everything Michelle Obama does—especially when Oprah is involved, too. Thankfully, Obama is releasing a new podcast, Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, to highlight the conversations she had throughout the duration of her book tour for The Light We Carry.

During the tour, Obama stopped at six different cities and spoke with several celebrities and leaders—from Oprah and Gayle to Tyler Perry, David Letterman, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Although only a small percentage of people were able to experience those interviews in person, everyone will now have access to the recordings via Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, including Obama’s enlightening conversation with Oprah.

The podcast, which was announced today, will be released on Audible and is the first original project created through its partnership with Higher Ground, Barack and Michelle Obama’s media company. The eight episodes will release on a weekly basis; each will be available exclusively on Audible for two weeks before becoming available on other podcast services.

Obama says that the podcast shines light on the tour’s best moments. “Like so many people around the world, I felt isolated, disconnected, and discouraged during the pandemic. Writing The Light We Carry was a way for me to make sense of it and reflect on some of the biggest challenges we all face in life—and the tour was an incredible way to share those stories with my readers and connect with real people once again. The best part is that this time around I got to bring some of my best friends and favorite personalities to join in the fun. That’s what Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast is all about—it’s a deeper examination of those fun and meaningful moments, lovingly made by our incredible team at Higher Ground and the fantastic people at Audible. I can’t wait for you all to take a listen.”

Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast will release its first episode on March 7. Start listening here.
