Chattanooga PD to Crack Down on Speeding

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga PD announced they would be cracking down on speeding around the Northshore area.

Glenn Scruggs, Assistant Chief of Neighborhood Policing, said there would be a larger police presence there due to an increase of speeding complaints and racing in the area.

“Since the first of the year there has been an uptick in pedestrians struck by cars. And so, we’re not only enforcing traffic to slow things down, but also in an effort to increase public safety,” Chief Scruggs said.

Officers will also be on the lookout for phone usage while driving. Chief Scruggs said the uptick of pedestrian accidents could be caused by reckless and distracted driving.

Chief Scruggs urges both drivers and pedestrians to stay vigilant and limit distractions on the road.
