EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A former teacher at St. Stanislaus School in East Chicago who was removed from the school last October for allegedly threatening students and herself will go on trial in September for felony intimidation.

Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, 25, told a 12-year-old student that she wanted to kill herself and others and had a "kill list," according to prosecutors.

She allegedly told the boy he was on the bottom of the list.

He went to a counsellor and when questioned about it, Carrasquillo-Torres is alleged to have said, "I want to kill myself, staff and students, and I did also make a kill list."

None was recovered. According to prosecutors, she said she was having trouble with her mental health and sometimes the kids don’t listen to her.  Carrasquillo-Torres later said she was only joking.

Parents were furious that she wasn’t immediately removed from the school. She stayed until the end of the day and police were later called.

The Times of Northwest Indiana reports that Carrasquillo-Torres asked to be put in a counselling program that would have resulted in the felony charge being dropped.

She doesn’t qualify as someone charged with a crime against children and she’s free on bond.
