One person is dead after a car crashed into a barrier on State Route 509 at Interstate 705 in Tacoma on Wednesday afternoon, Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer announced.
Reyer tweeted about the incident just before 2 p.m. The Washington State Department of Transportation and Tacoma Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.
The right two lanes of southbound SR 509 at I-705, the southbound SR 509 ramp to northbound I-705, and the southbound I-705 ramp to northbound SR 509 were closed for several hours while crews investigated, but have since reopened.
