Charlotte Flair Didn’t Know About Recent Title Win Until She Arrived: My Cleaning Lady Had To Bring My Ring Gear

Charlotte Flair‘s return to WWE SmackDown on December 30 didn’t exactly happen how The Queen initially envisioned it to.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was a recent guest on Out of Character with Ryan Satin to discuss a wide variety of subjects. While discussing her surprise WWE return at the end of 2022, Flair said she originally wanted to return at Survivor Series, but she just had her stitches out and decided it was better not to push it.

“Right around Christmas time. Like I really wanted to come back at Survivor Series, but I just finished getting my last stitches out,” Charlotte Flair said. “So I think it was like don’t push it. So then I got the green light the week of New Year’s.”

Flair was a bit shocked when she was told she was winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship back on night one. The situation was enough of a surprise that she didn’t have her gear with her when she found out.

“I didn’t find out I was winning the title until I got there. I didn’t have my gear with me,” Charlotte Flair revealed. “My amazing cleaning lady brought me my gear. I should have known better like I’m coming to a wrestling show. Like I just brought my outfit. I thought it was just gonna be a walkout surprise. I’ve been gone for so long, so there really didn’t need to be any major fireworks.

“But no, when I got there, they’re like, ‘Oh, you need your gear.’ It’s like, ‘Oh, God. I don’t have my gear with me.’ We were like 30 minutes out from Tampa. I got the call at maybe five-ish, that I needed gear right before I got to the arena. So she got to the arena around 7-7:15. That’s pushing it.”

While Flair admitted she believed her return to WWE would be full steam ahead, she didn’t expect to win the title back on her first night.

“Well I never thought when I went back that it wasn’t going to be like full speed ahead,” Charlotte Flair said. “I just didn’t think I was going to be champion on the first night, but I knew it was going to be like let’s go.”
