Starry named official soft drink of NBA, WNBA

Starry, PepsiCo's new lemon lime flavored soda, is the new official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League in North America, as well as the title partner of the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend’s 3-Point Contest. The new Starry 3-Point Contest will take place during State Farm NBA All-Star Saturday Night, as well as WNBA All-Star 2023, and will introduce the new "STARRY Range" -- the “ultimate test of range” where participants will shoot two custom Wilson Starry basketballs worth 3 points from 6 feet out behind the deepest part of the current 3-point line. Starry Senior Dir of Brand Marketing Michael Smith said the new soda will “bring a fresh perspective to the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League and help elevate the game's most exciting moments."

Starry replaces fellow PepsiCo brand Mtn Dew with the official soft drink designation. Pelicans F Zion Williamson, Bulls G Zach LaVine, Warriors G Klay Thompson and WNBA Las Vegas Aces F A’ja Wilson will promote the Starry partnership; all but Thompson previously promoted Mtn Dew. PepsiCo has been an NBA sponsor since 2015.

To help introduce Starry, which officially launched in January, the brand will be premiering a new commercial during NBA All-Star 2023. Starry also will be taking part in NBA Crossover, the weekend’s immersive fan event, which will open Friday Feb. 17 with appearances from Williamson, Wilson, Jazz G Jordan Clarkson and others. At the event, fans can participate in the Shoot Your Shot Challenge where the brand is giving away $100,000 to fans in a 60 second 3-point contest and also try sample of the soda in its regular or zero sugar flavors.
