It happened around noon in the area of Colt Road and Central Drive, near Alma School and Warner roads. While limited details have been released, Chandler police confirm the suspect has died and that there is no danger to the community. No officers were hurt. The suspect hasn’t been identified.

Officers were called out to the Super 8 motel on Apache Boulevard, east of Rural Road around 1:30 a.m. When they arrived, paramedics found a person, who has not been identified, with two gunshot wounds. Officers say that person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect took off from the scene just before police arrived. At this time, detectives believe that the suspect and a victim had some sort of argument that escalated. Video from the scene showed officers actively securing the crime scene as they work to gather details on a possible suspect. Police say this was an isolated incident and that there is no public threat.

Just before 10 p.m., Phoenix police responded to reports of a shooting near 43rd and West Virginia avenues, just south of Thomas Road. They arrived to find a man with several gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Around 12:20 p.m., Surprise police were called about an unwanted guest in a Walmart parking lot near Grand Avenue and Bell Road. Officers arrived and found a man sitting in the backseat of a car with the door open and tried to talk to him. Police say the man was yelling and argumentative, so the officers asked the man to get out of the vehicle. According to investigators, that’s when the man yelled at officers, “I have a gun,” and reached under a pile of personal items. Officers fired at the man, killing him.

According to court paperwork, Corinna Theresa Dietz bought a home with her mother in 2019, and the deed was written that if the house was sold, Dietz would get all the money. But the mother moved and wrote the money from the sale would be put in a trust where Dietz and her sister would get the money. Police said Dietz didn’t know of the change, so when her mother died and sold the home, she became “enraged” that she’d have to split the money with her sister. On March 20, Dietz recorded herself pouring gasoline throughout the house and lighting five different fires, according to court paperwork.
