Oaklawn's Elkhart campus was closed, out of an abundance of caution, for 3 days citing a security threat.
In Facebook posts they said their Elkhart campus would be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. They said they have been working with Elkhart Police to determine the next step.
Oaklawn said after consulting with law enforcement regarding the threat to the Elkhart campus, they determined that the Elkhart campus can open safely with increased security measures. The Oaklawn Elkhart campus will have increased security measures this week, including uniformed security officers on site Thursday and Friday and increased police presence on campus.
"...it is an active and ongoing investigation. At this time no arrests have been made. Officers in our Patrol division have also dispatched to the building this week for employee standbys at staff request (re to retrieve equipment or dispense meds). Officers have also increased their patrols in the area as a precaution," said They Elkhart Police Public Information Officer.
Oaklawn's Goshen, South Bend and Mishawaka campuses remained open and fully operational.
