Editor’s Note: New information from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has determined that diesel was not one of the materials spilled during a crash involving two tractor-trailers in Mingo County. This article has been updated to reflect that information.

UPDATE: (7:30 p.m. Feb. 1, 2023) – A West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection investigator has determined that diesel was not spilled during a crash involving two tractor-trailers in Mingo County this afternoon.

According to the WVDEP, materials that did spill included fill material, engine oil and antifreeze, but not diesel fuel. The investigator says no material reached waterways and the materials are being treated with oil dry, swept up and put into a dump trailer for proper disposal.

MINGO COUNTY, WV (WOWK)—A roadway in Mingo County is closed after a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Wednesday.

WVDOT says that the crash happened on US 119 near the intersection of 22 Mine Rd. just before 1 p.m.

They say that the saddle bags punctured on at least one of the trucks, and more than 100 gallons of diesel possibly spilled on the road.

Northbound lanes are currently closed and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection says they have an inspector on-site.
