Khalil Lee allegations: Everything to know about MLB investigation into Mets player

24-year-old Mets prospect Khalil Lee, who is on the 40-man roster, was named in a federal lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for allegations of physical and verbal abuse.
New York Mets prospect Khalil Lee was named in a federal lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend regarding allegations of physical and verbal abuse, per Anne Hayes Syracuse.com. Lee, who was previously named in trade rumors as part of the return for former Cubs catcher Willson Contreras, was expected to compete for a job in Spring Training.
“In the lawsuit, Lee’s former girlfriend, Keriwyn Hill, of Brooklyn, alleges that on May 7, 2022, Lee assaulted her by pulling her hair and choking her during an argument. Hill says the assault left multiple bruises and marks on her body,” Hayes wrote.
MLB is investigating the events. Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was signed by a judge in August.
Mets aware of investigation into Khalil Lee
The Mets released a statement in response to the investigation into Lee.
“The Mets immediately notified MLB upon becoming aware of the allegations. We will fully comply with MLB’s policy and cannot comment until the completion of the league’s investigative process,” Andy Martino reported.
The allegations against Lee include a kick to the thigh, as well as grabbing her box braids and yanking her backward, which caused her to hit the kitchen island.
New York acquired Lee in the trade which sent Andrew Benintendi to the Royals last offseason. Lee played just 13 MLB games with the Mets, and his future with the organization is unknown at this time.
