A man was killed in Washoe County when he was hit by a truck while outside his disabled vehicle on I-580.
The Nevada State Police responded to a reported crash at the location of southbound I-580, north of mile marker 13 in Washoe County around 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 24.
Upon arrival, troopers determined that a man was driving a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup on southbound I-580. At the same time, a white Nissan Frontier pickup was disabled on the right shoulder, ahead of the Chevrolet Colorado.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier was outside next to the left rear of the disabled vehicle. For unknown reasons, the red Chevrolet Colorado drifted into the right shoulder and struck both the driver and the Nissan Frontier.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier has been identified as 53-year-old Oscar Orlando Acosta-Manzano from Carson City. Manzano was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
