The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defensemen Tim Berni and Marcus Bjork to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Berni, 22, has recorded one goal with 18 penalty minutes, 72 hits, 35 blocked shots and 30 shots, while averaging 17:56 of ice time in 28 games with the Blue Jackets in his first NHL campaign in 2022-23. He made his League debut on December 6 at Pittsburgh and notched his first career goal on January 10 at Tampa Bay (Andrei Vasilevskiy).
A native of Mannedorf, Switzerland, Berni has totaled 4-15-19 with 54 penalty minutes and 91 shots in 87 career AHL games with the Monsters since making his North American pro debut in 2021-22. He has collected 1-3-4, 10 PIM, 14 shots and a +1 plus/minus rating in 15 contests with Cleveland in 2022-23. The 6-0, 192-pound blueliner was selected by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round, 159th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft.
Bjork, 25, has collected 3-8-11 with 24 penalty minutes, 36 hits, 42 blocked shots and 29 shots, while averaging 18:47 minutes of ice time in 27 games with the Blue Jackets in his first NHL campaign this season. He became the first blueliner in franchise history to record a goal in his NHL debut when he scored on November 12 at the NY Islanders and picked up his first career assist one game later vs. Philadelphia on November 15.
The 6-4, 211-pound native of Umea, Sweden has added 2-5-7 with six penalty minutes and 23 shots in 17 contests with the Monsters in 2022-23. He signed a one-year, entry level contract with the club on May 24, 2022.
