The Blacklist will cross off its very last name in 2023.
NBC‘s long-running crime drama — recently noted by TVLine as one of 13 broadcast series with very uncertain futures — will end with its upcoming 10th season, the network announced Wednesday.
“After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion,” said showrunner and EP John Eisendrath. “It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week. We would like to thank everyone at NBC and Sony, our extraordinary crew who make the impossible happen every day, our endlessly inventive writers and producers, and our remarkable cast who brought life to these characters. We appreciate our dedicated fanbase who came along for this wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them.”
Added Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming: “It isn’t often that a series resonates so deeply with an audience that it airs for 10 seasons, but The Blacklist proved to be a perfect combination of highly talented producers, stellar writing, a cast that never failed to deliver and a crew that always rose to the occasion. A huge thank you to our partners at Sony, everyone from the past decade who made this show an integral part of NBC’s storied history and, of course, a special nod to James Spader, whose performance remains nothing short of spectacular.”
The Blacklist first bowed in 2013 and has centered on Spader’s Raymond Reddington, a wanted criminal who turns himself in to the FBI but insists on speaking only to profiler Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone). Late in its run, the show underwent some major changes, including the exits of Boone and series creator Jon Bokenkamp at the end of Season 8.
More recently, series regulars Amir Arison (who played Agent Aram Mojtabai) and Laura Sohn (Agent Alina Park) departed in the Season 9 finale; their void will be at least partially filled by the addition of newcomer Anya Banerjee, who will appear in Season 10 as Siya Malik, the daughter of Season 1 character Meera Malik.
The Blacklist‘s 10th, and now final, season premieres Sunday, Feb. 26 at 10/9c. Watch a promo for the final episodes above, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the news.
So sad 😞
It is VERY sad😭
It’s time (many will say it went on a few seasons too many although I have still enjoyed it). Just hoping for a satisfying ending.
^^^^^^^THIS!
two seasons too late
Had they stayed with the original content it would have continued to be popular.
IMO they stayed on Elizabeth King WAY too long and it got boring. I kept wishing they would get back onto the original blacklist segments.
The only bright spot is we’ll get a conclusion to the show. I hate it when there is a cliffhanger that goes unresolved.
It hasn’t been the same since Megan Boone left. And losing Amir Arison to Broadway made me less interested in this season, much as I love James Spader. I already hope to enjoy seeing him star as a new character in a new show.
Well you’ll be happy to know that Amir arson does appear in one episode as a 2nd trailer was released focusing just on season 10 and a clean shaven Amir arson sees as a us embassy is blown up
James Spader has been amazing!!
Amazing!!! ❤️
Ten seasons is a helluva run. One of my favorite series.
I wish this show had ended when Megan Boone was still part of the cast and Jon Bokenkamp was still running it, but I’m glad it will have a planned conclusion. They must be running out of numbers for the Blacklisters by now.
I’ll stick with to the end, even though I stopped I stopped caring what happened after they killed off Elizabeth.
R.I.P. The Blacklist (2013-2023)
It’s the series finale of The Blacklist on NBC!
Every so often a TV series appears and it captures your imagination. Blacklist is and was an amazing piece of television because of its cast and ever changing story lines. Some say that it may have been repitious in parts but overall with James Spader it was most entertaining. It will be interesting to see how they wrap it up in Series 10.
I have enjoyed The Blacklist over the years, especially James Spader. I’ll miss it. But to be brutally honest, it really should have ended with Season 4. It really struggled to find big arcs for the series. They were either repetitive or ill-conceived. It’s real strength was the case of the week. It lost gas in later seasons with the over-arcing stories. Still, it was a hell of a ride!
The show veered terribly off course when they had the character Elizabeth pregnant because the actress was in RL. Her death was a highlight of the show so storylines could move forward with Spader. He could recite the phone book and it’d be interesting. Too bad show is cancelled. I was looking forward to watching Spader’s Raymond in new plotlines
I hate to say it but it’s time. I’ve watched it since day one and it’s been a blast with James Spader especially. Still, they don’t do amazing special effects or anything, however, they just do a show with storylines and old style mixed with modern day espionage. I’m goanna miss James Spader.
RIGHT! They obsessed over E Keen WAY too long.
Had they stayed with the original content it would have continued to be popular.
IMO they stayed on Elizabeth King WAY too long and it got boring. I kept wishing they would get back onto the original blacklist segments.
James Spader free for a revival of Boston Legal :P
Yes!!
James Spader saved the Practice (season 8) and was so incredible on Boston Legal. He is an amazing actor when paired with David E. Kelley.
Maybe send Spader over to Big Sky for season 4
I’m really liking this!
I didn’t start watching The Blacklist till the end of Season 2 and I was hooked. The Blacklist is and will always be one of my favorite TV Series.
I’ve watched The Blacklist from the beginning and love James Spader and liked the entire cast. I enjoyed the acting and the stories. Too many people have left who I really miss and I will miss the show very much. Thanks to James Spader and the original and additions to the cast and to Jon Bokenkamp for a wonderful 10 years.
You mean, NBC chose to cease production.”
.
The show “ended” years ago.
What are the odds on whether the show will ever reveal who Reddington really is? We may never know.
I hope they reveal Reddington ‘s true identity and his relation to Keen. We need and deserve the closure on that.
I don’t think I can even watch. While the quality of the shows decreased, the talent of James Spader never did. He created, perhaps, the best character ever on TV. I truly hate that RR will be no more. Heart is broken.
Done with broadcast TV. No more Raylan Givens, no more Walt Longmire, and no more Raymond Reddington.
Raylan is coming back this summer in Justified: City Primeval .
R.I.P. The Blacklist Redemption (2017)
The Blacklist: Redemption was cancelled after 1 season in May 2017.
No I am not ready to say good-bye
It’s time, looking forward to seeing how they end it.
I’ve loved the Blacklist. This is very sad.
I loved this show from the very first episode when the ending starting playing the song “99 Problems” and I knew it would be epic.
James Spader IS THE SHOW and I think it shifted once Tom Keene was killed off and Liz having a kid made it messy to pursue cases and work with Red. Once they killed off Liz and still didn’t give fans WHO Reddington is to her to wrap up that part of the storyline then it definitely went downhill.
I am here to the end to see it play out. Thanks for the memories, James Spader!
loved the inception, but 10 seasons was too long.. my interest started to wane when the ‘baby’ arrived and much of the storyline shifted surrounding the arrival.
I hope James Spader has another TV project soon. He is the Blacklist.
