TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead.

At 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, emergency dispatchers received a call from a home in the 800 block of South Anderson Street. A woman asked for help for her son, who was having a mental health crisis.

Officers arrived and knocked on the door, but got no response. They looked through the windows and were able to see a woman on the floor inside, so they forced their way into the home.

No one else was found inside the home.

The 66-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Tacoma Police Department announced that it had arrested the woman’s son after seeing him in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. The 31-year-old man was booked into jail for investigation of first-degree murder domestic violence.
