Two separate animal bite incidents were reported in far east El Paso officials this week the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
The first incident happened on Monday around 4:15 p.m. on the 200 block of Oil Mill Drive in Tornillo.
During the investigation, deputies learned that a pit bull and bulldog attacked an elderly woman and bit her several times on her face, legs, and arms.
The woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The Animal Welfare Unit issued several citations to the canine owners and impounded the canines for euthanasia.
Detectives are actively investigating the incident.
The second incident happened Tuesday around 5:55 p.m. on the 100 block of Lake Champlin near Horizon Boulevard on a call involving a pit bull/ German Shepard mix.
The pit bull bit an 11-year-old child. The child was not seriously injured.
Animal Welfare was unable to capture the feral canine, and they will continue to attempt to capture the loose canine.
Deputies are reminding the public that an offense of not having your canine on a leash or kept contained in the yard is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.00 per incident.
If a dog is not contained or if the owner fails to secure the dog and the dog makes an unprovoked attack against a person, the owner could be charged with a third-degree felony if the canine causes serious bodily injury and up to a second-degree felony if the canine causes the death of a person.
