CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Criminal charges are being filed following Monday’s Chicago home invasion and beating during which an 80-year-old homeowner shot a man.

51-year-old Mansfield Wallace, who lives on the 200 block of Richmond Street in Evanston, is charged with three felonies: home invasion causing injury, aggravated battery to a victim over 60-years-old and aggravated battery, causing great bodily harm.

A warrant has been issued for the alleged accomplice, 31-year-old Tabitha Hemphill, of the 4500 block of West Armitage in Chicago.

The two are alleged to have knocked on the door to a home on the 8500 block of West Catherine Avenue at about 10:30 on Monday morning and then forced their way in and beat the 80-year-old homeowner. He was armed, according to police, and he shot Wallace in the chest.

The two left the home and went to Resurrection Hospital, where Wallace was treated for his wound.

The homeowner was seriously injured.
