A man died Tuesday night in downtown Portland from what appeared to be a stab wound, police said.

Officers were called just before 11 p.m. to the 1200 block of Southwest Park Avenue, near the Portland Art Museum and Oregon Historical Society.

Paramedics soon arrived as well but the wounded man died at the scene, police said.

A suspect, Jonathan Grall, has been arrested in the stabbing, police said. The 25-year-old faces likely charges of murder in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon.

The victim has not been publicly identified.

Southwest Park and 9th Avenues were closed overnight between Main and Jefferson Streets while the police bureau’s homicide unit investigated.

In 2022, seven of the city’s record-breaking 101 homicides victims were stabbed to death.
