Leaked images of a second-generation Meta Watch have surfaced online. The smartwatch has an unusual design with two cameras and a notch for one of them, among other features.

Kuba Wojciechowski has shared details about a second-generation Meta Watch, eight months after Bloomberg leaked photos of a cancelled prototype. Bloomberg claimed that Meta had 'halted development' of the smartwatch in favour of 'other devices for the wrist', albeit without providing specifics as to what these alternative devices could be. While the extent of Meta's plans is unknown, it has built on its 'V1' prototype with a similar-looking second-generation model.

As such, the second-generation model has a squircle-shaped chassis, within which sits a flat display and relatively slim bezels. However, Meta punctuates the display and bezels with a front-facing camera, distinguishing it from contemporary smartwatches. Meta has also included two hardware buttons and a second camera that sits on the device's underside next to its sensor array and five pogo pins. Presumably, the Meta smartwatch will use the latter for charging.

Moreover, the smartwatch supports proprietary watch bands with built-in cases, rather than a locking mechanism for each band. Wojciechowski adds that the Meta smartwatch utilises a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and an Android fork, not Wear OS. Overall, it seems that Meta has made sensor array and cosmetic changes with this second-generation model. A release date is unclear at this stage, but Wojciechowski believes that the smartwatch will serve as a tie-in with other Metaverse-related devices.
