Hugh Freeze: 'I think Auburn sells itself'

Hugh Freeze knows how to sell Auburn before coaching a game.

Hugh Freeze has done an incredible job recruiting and rounding out the 2023 class as well as adding 12 players via the transfer portal.

He's also doing this by selling a vision.

Freeze discussed what he was selling to potential and future Auburn Tigers to help get them to come to Auburn after the Tuesday Senior Bowl practice.

"I think Auburn sells itself. There are only, what, four to five schools that have played for two national championships for the last twelve years. Auburn is one of them and, you know, I think it's somewhere that the right type of people can come in and restore the Auburn tradition of winning and, you know, our community and the campus, the people, I think, is a great environment and people sense that when they come now. So, obviously, I have a vision still for them individually and for us as a team. But it's a collaborative effort with everybody from campus to our staff and to the vision."

This pitch has certainly worked so far. With no proof of what he's doing at Auburn on the field, Freeze and his staff have been able to bolster the 2023 class from a group ranked in the 50s to the 16th-ranked class in college football.

He's also built a top-five transfer class depending on what service you look at. While maintaining returning starters and adding 12 experienced players through the transfer portal, the roster looks more competitive now than it did two months ago when gearing for 2023.
