Boys Basketball: Union County Conference Players of the Week for Feb. 1

High school boys basketball action has featured standout performances all over the court for teams across New Jersey, including some awe-inspiring efforts.

Each week, NJ Advance Media will select five Players of the Week in every conference, highlighting the best individual efforts in that area.

These selections are made from games played between Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Monday, Jan. 30. Introduce yourselves to our five picks from the Union County Conference.

Patrick Conniff, Oratory, Jr., F

He averaged 12 points and 5.7 rebounds to help the Rams (10-8) to victories over Rahway, New Providence and Gov. Livingston last week. In the 56-43 win against New Providence, Conniff netted a season-high 23 points and turned in his second double-double of the year with 11 rebounds.

Isaiah Fuller, Roselle, Sr., G

He directed Roselle (17-3) to wins over New Providence, Marion Thomas Charter and Cranford by averaging 14.7 points and 4.3 assists in that stretch. Fuller connected for a season-best 28 points Monday to fuel the 84-62 triumph over Cranford.

Matt Nervi, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Sr., G

Nervi began his week by pouring in a season-high 26 points in a 64-36 win over Hillside and ended it with 16 points in a 70-41 victory against New Providence. He is averaging 14.6 points this season.

Jordan “JoJo” Torres, Elizabeth, So., G

He generated all of his 13 points in the third quarter to help Elizabeth rally to a lead it never lost on the way to a 38-35 upset over then-No. 14 Linden last Thursday in Linden. Torress pumped in 31 points (with 9, 3-pointers) two nights earlier in a 90-42 win over Pioneer Academy, and he had 11 Monday in a 66-38 victory against Hillside.

Jake Zawacki, Brearley, Sr., G

Zawacki turned in back-to-back 28-point performances to guide his Bears to victories over Dayton, 71-57, and Westwood, 61-57. He produced 13 points Saturday as Brearley ended its week with a tough, 45-43 loss against Roselle Park. Zawacki averages 21.5 ppg.
