Lawrence D. "Larry" Lindesmith

Lawrence D. “Larry” Lindesmith, age 83, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Larry was born on February 18, 1939, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Alvie “Doc” and Dolly Mae (Thorpe) Lindesmith.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended local schools.

On February 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Ann Glades at the Christian Church in Coffeyville.  The couple made their home in rural Coffeyville where they raised their two children, Rick and Beverly.  Through the years he and Pat enjoyed fishing, camping at Elk City Reservoir, or going out for a night of dancing, just to name a few of the many ways they enjoyed each other.  They were members of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville where Larry previously served as an usher for numerous years. They contributed and volunteered with the church whenever they could.

Larry was a skilled craftsman and a hard worker.  He established Lindesmith Construction since the mid 1960’s, specializing in concrete work and primarily working as a contractor for the local refinery.  In addition to his construction business, Larry raised hogs for over 30 years.  He usually had a few head of cattle he tended to and was in business with his parents.  He had two big gardens every year that produced all kinds of vegetables.  He would donate most of the vegetables to local establishments and friends.

He made so many friends throughout his life.  He went every morning to meet the guys for coffee at Braum’s.  The group was usually Mark Muller, Fred Muller, Larry Muller, who preceded him in death, and Everitt Babcock to name a few.  Throughout the years he and friends would go bowling over at Caney or meet up to play poker.  Larry enjoyed his furry, four legged companions through the years.  Especially their German Shepherds, “King” and “Queen” along with “Cuddles” the white miniature poodle.  The three dogs preceded him in death, but they always had a permanent spot in their hearts.  Most recently he and Pat have been dog-sitting for their granddogs, watching “Jovi” almost every day.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Pat Lindesmith of the home; son, Rick Lindesmith and wife, Karen of Coffeyville, Kansas; daughter, Beverly Lindesmith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rebecca Mason and husband, Michael, Jake Lindesmith and wife, Kelsey, Luke Lindesmith and wife, Shayla, Jeremy Dodson and wife, Cheyenne, Brandon Dodson and girlfriend, Sara; great grandchildren, Luna Rae Mason, Sawyer and Hadley Lindesmith, Lenora Lindesmith and a great grandson Lindesmith on the way; numerous extended relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Dolly Mae Lindesmith; a brother, John Lindesmith and a sister, Florence Chance.
