An NFL player who made his name on Friday nights in Guernsey County has been indicted on a pair of felony charges.
Josh Sills, 25, was indicted by a Guernsey County grand jury on one count of rape and one count of kidnapping.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden made the announcement on Wednesday.
Sills is accused of engaging in sexual activity that was not consensual and holding a victim against her will in December 2019.
It was immediately reported, and the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office conducted a detailed investigation
Sills played at Meadowbrook High School, spent four years at West Virginia University before transferring to Oklahoma State. He was an undrafted rookie for the Super Bowl-bound Eagles this year.
A backup right guard, Sills appeared in one regular season game this year.
The Eagles offered the following on the matter:
"The organization is aware of the legal matter involving Josh Sills. We have been in communication with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.”
The NFL placed Sills on the Commissioner Exempt List.
"Sills may not participate in practices and games or travel with the team while on the Commissioner Exempt List," the league said in a statement. "The matter will be reviewed under the NFL's personal conduct policy."
Sills is being summoned by the Guernsey County Court 4 days after the Super Bowl at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16.
