Home collapses following fire in Northumberland County

MOUNT CARMEL TWP, NORTHUMBERLAND CO, (WOLF) —
Flames destroyed a home in Northumberland County Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning.

Officials say calls came in for a house fire at the intersection of Railroad Street and 2nd Street in Mount Carmel Township just after 10 PM on Tuesday.
The home where the fire originated collapsed around 12:30 AM Wednesday. Only a mound of rubble and a chimney were left standing.
According to Skook News, two people were reported to have been home at the time of the fire and both escaped uninjured. The fire also caused extensive damage to the exterior of an unattached home on the same road.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
