Pilot hospitalized after home-built airplane crashes into tree in Volusia County

OAK HILL, Fla. — A pilot was hurt and taken to a hospital after a small home-built airplane crashed into a wooded area in Volusia County.

The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area off Maytown Road in Oak Hill.

Deputies said the pilot was the only person on board when the airplane crashed into a tree.

The pilot was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

There is no word yet on the extent of the pilot’s injuries.
