UniSource still working to restore power to thousands in Santa Cruz County

Nogales schools cancel classes Wednesday
More than 10,000 UniSource Energy Services customers in Santa Cruz County lost power Wednesday morning. According to the utility's outage map, the affected area was south of Madera Canyon.

UPDATE 4:40 p.m.

UniSource Engery's outage map is now showing power restored to many customers.

The map says 2122 customers in Rio Rico and the surrounding area are still waiting for power.

UPDATE 10:25 a.m.

According to UniSource Engery's outage map, some southeastern portions of the service area can expect restoration by around 2 p.m.:

  • Nogales
  • Patagonia
  • Harshaw
  • Beyerville
  • Kino Springs

There is currently no estimate for restoration in the areas around Amado, Tubac and Rio Rico.

More than 10,000 UniSource Energy Services customers in Santa Cruz County lost power Wednesday morning.

As a result, Nogales Unified School District canceled classes for the day.

According to the utility's outage map, the affected area was south of Madera Canyon. There was no estimated time for power to be restored.

Many of the outages started around 4 a.m.
