Jessica Chastain is a gown kind of woman. From the cobwebbed, crystal-encrusted Oscar de la Renta creation she wore to the Golden Globes, to the zingy lime-green Michael Kors design she chose for the George & Tammy premiere last year, the actor has a penchant for floor-length fashion.

For her recent visit to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, though, Chastain experimented with a different silhouette. Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, sourced a velvety Dries Van Noten waistcoat-cum-dress from the designer’s autumn/winter 2020 collection for the promo appearance, paired with thigh-high Stuart Weitzman boots for a sexy touch. Chastain follows (quite literally) in the footsteps of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Sienna Miller, both of whom are fans of thigh-grazing boots.

Stewart’s approach is all about knowing her clients to the core. “Once I get someone down, it becomes second nature to dress them,” she previously told British Vogue. Though she enjoys pushing their style codes from time to time, she insists: “[I’d never] force them into something. They have to love it, and I have to love it!”
