AEW Dynamite (2/1) Preview: No DQ TNT Title Match, Danielson vs. Thatcher, Acclaimed Compete, More

It's Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and you know what that means!

It's time to break down tonight's AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Tonight's episode will feature Bryan Danielson against Timothy Thatcher, Darby Allin defending his TNT Championship, and more.

Here's everything you need to know before tonight's AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Darby Defends Against Samoa Joe: No DQ!

Darby Allin will defend his TNT Championship tonight against the man he took it from, Samoa Joe. However, tonight's match is special because it will be contested under No Disqualification rules.

In one corner, Darby Allin is ready for yet another title defense with his "Never Say Die" attitude. In the other, Samoa Joe is ready to pounce, and his slogan? "Joe's gonna to kill you." AEW Dynamite will play host to a battle of wills and even though no rules tend to favor Darby, Samoa Joe may have just been given free rein to do whatever he wants in order to ensure that he regains his crown as "King of Television"

The American Dragon vs. Timothy Thatcher

Bryan Danielson must win every match between now and February 8 in order to make sure he faces MJF for the AEW World Championship in an hour-long Iron Man bout at AEW Revolution.

Tonight, it all comes down to this as Bryan Danielson wrestles a like-minded competitor in Timothy Thatcher. A former NXT Superstar and well-traveled veteran, Thatcher is also fascinated by the pure scientific decimation that professional wrestling allows a competitor to inflict on their opponent and Danielson is coming into this match injured, giving Timothy a clear target heading into tonight.

Danielson refuses to give up but is this where his journey ends? Not if he has anything to say about it.

Takeshita vs. Cage

Tonight, Brian Cage will take on Konosuke Takeshita. Repercussions for what happened last week following a match between Brian Cage and Bryan Danielson, where Cage and Maxwell Jacob Friedman tried to injure Danielson, Takeshita now looks to exact revenge on "The Machine."

Takeshita has grown a great deal of respect for "The American Dragon" and has vowed to watch his back from here on out. Unfortunately for him, this means he may incur the wrath of monsters like Cage. Tonight, both men look to lay it all on the line.

Jade Cargill Goes For #50

Tonight, Jade Cargill looks to earn her 50th consecutive victory in AEW, and she's looking to her past in order to do so. Jade will take on enemy-turned-friend and then back again, Red Velvet. Velvet was the very first person Cargill beat in AEW, and after severing ties with Jade and The Baddies, velvet looks to be the first person to defeat Cargill.

The Acclaimed Will Compete

The AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed will be in action tonight. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens are focused on their issues with Austin and Colten Gunn, but tonight, they will look to prove why they are the best tag team in AEW.

Hangman Page And Jon Moxley Look To Settle The Score

Tonight, Jon Moxley and Hangman Page look to break the tie between them as Page heads into enemy territory and Jon Moxley's home state of Ohio. Each man has one win over the other, and both can lay claim to knocking out their opponent. Tonight, Hangman looks to put Jon Moxley in his rearview mirror so he can focus on writing some other wrongs in his career.

On the other hand, Moxley is looking to utilize the home-field advantage and get back on the winning track in AEW. one way or another; it will be a physical fight tonight.

In addition to all of that, AEW stars like The Gunns, Saraya, Adam Cole, Toni Storm, and more are all waiting for their next opportunity to make a statement. The road to AEW Revolution is in the fast lane, and tonight, The Nutter Center is where the next chapter in AEW will unfold.
