The Kansas City Royals are one step closer to building their new stadium.
Royals ownership held their second community listening session Tuesday night answering questions from the public.
The team says they have narrowed it down to four or five locations in Kansas City to build the new stadium.
People at the community meeting still had lots of questions like why doesn’t the team’s ownership pay for the new stadium themselves?
"We will be the biggest investor in this project," said Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman, who says the team will invest $1 billion into the stadium.
And who will have a seat at the table? Working families and union members had their own concerns.
"I ask you to be patient with us, that CBA agreement will be dependent on our new home," said Royals Sr. Vice President of Business Operations.
Royals ownership told the crowd several times that they have not yet chosen an exact location.
"I think they’ll do what’s best for the community, I think ya know just to engage them and be transparent in their efforts, I mean that’s what it takes. There may be some displacement just depending on where it is businesses and land," said Don Gardner, who attended both Royals meetings.
"This could either be good for Kansas City, or bad, it won't be in the middle. We have a housing crisis, low wages, violent crime in the city this new project we’re talking about could impact real lives here," said Terrence Wise, a worker leader at Stand Up KC.
Sherman says the focus is still winning basbeall games as the team heads to Arizona in a couple of weeks for spring training.
