Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr received an invite to the Pro Bowl Games, and he poked fun at the news on Twitter.

The Las Vegas Raiders benched quarterback Derek Carr for the final two games of the 2022 season in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Reports indicated that this decision was made to preserve Carr’s health, as they explore a trade by the Feb. 15 deadline, as he is due to $40 million guaranteed total between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Carr confirmed his impending departure in a statement, thanking the Raiders organization and fanbase at the end of the season.

Well, Carr will have the chance to play one final game at Allegiant Stadium.

On Tuesday, Carr was officially invited to the Pro Bowl Games, as he is a replacement for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Carr had a hilarious reaction on Twitter when receiving the news that he would represent the Raiders one last time, joking that “maybe this invitation got lost in the mail from past seasons.”

Derek Carr to play one final game in Las Vegas

Lost in the mail or not, Carr is heading to the Pro Bowl to represent the Raiders for one last game. This is also the fourth time in his career in which he will play in the Pro Bowl, his first since 2017.

Carr and the Raiders were expected to contend for a playoff spot and even the AFC West after they brought in players like wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive end Chandler Jones. After all, these were moves made to make it to the postseason for the second year in a row, with the goal of making a deep run past the Wild Card Round. Instead, they began the year 2-7.

After Week 16, the Raiders announced they were benching Carr. Later, it was revealed that Carr would remain away from the team in those final two games.

In 15 games played, Carr threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 60.8-percent of his passes.

Now, Carr will play in Allegiant Stadium one final time, where he will participate in some of the skills competitions and potentially in the flag football game.
