The Seattle Mariners claimed left-handed relief pitcher Tayler Saucedo off waivers from the New York Mets on Tuesday.

Saucedo, 29, spent the past two seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and appeared in 33 games, including just four last season.

The Hawaii native has a career ERA of 5.40 but gave up four earned runs, including three home runs, across 2 2/3 innings in 2022 for an ERA of 13.50. Saucedo also has 19 career strikeouts (zero in 2022).

The Mets selected Saucedo off waivers from the Blue Jays in November. They designated him for assignment on Jan. 24.

Seattle DFA’d right-handed pitcher J.B. Bukauskas to make room on its 40-man roster for Saucedo. Bukauskas, 26, last appeared in the major leagues in 2021 for the Arizona Diamondbacks, when he went 2-2 with a 7.79 ERA in 21 appearances out of the bullpen.
