A woman who Portland police spent at least three months trying to locate was arrested in Arizona this week and charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Aaron H. Follstad-Martin.
Portland police publicly named Janae T. Kelley, 43, as a suspect last October, saying there was probable cause for her arrest but that they didn’t know her whereabouts.
The U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force found her Friday in Chandler, Arizona, according to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau.
Kelley will likely stay in Arizona until she’s extradited to Oregon, police said.
Follstad-Martin, 44, was found dead from a gunshot wound July 15 just before 8 p.m. near Southeast 124th Avenue and Powell Boulevard. Court documents reveal he was shot in the head above his left eye, and his body was found on a curb behind a smoke shop.
The warrant for Kelley’s arrest refers to her as an ex-girlfriend of Follstad-Martin. She’s accused of firing a gun at him from a car as he was walking north on 124th Avenue. The two had been seen arguing moments earlier outside the residence of another woman he was seeing, according to court documents.
