New assault at Warren County Juvenile Detention Center leads to investigation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A separate assault incident has been reported at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

On Saturday around 6:30 p.m., officials say three juveniles in custody at the Warren Juvenile Detention Center attacked a youth worker.

A release by the Department of Juvenile Justice says the juveniles then barricaded themselves inside an office by blocking the door with a filing cabinet.

Both the Kentucky State Police and Warren County Regional Jail’s Critical Emergency Response Team responded for assistance.

The release states the situation was solved without use of force. No injuries to youth were reported, according to the release.

Officials say the incident involved 16-year-olds who had been committed on charges of murder, first-degree robbery and trafficking. The release also clarifies these juveniles were not involved in the incident on Jan. 23, which involved a different attack on staff.

The situation is under investigation by KSP, and the release states the department is seeking criminal charges. No further details are available for release at this time.
