The 1400 block of Market Street of Wheeling has started to receive its emergency stabilization work.
This process is to ensure the four buildings do not deteriorate or collapse through the winter months and they can have a seamless transition into the next phase of construction come spring.
This will cover the structures’ integrity and environmental remediation.
"It's really exciting that these are finally getting some attention,” Wheeling Heritage Director of Programming Betsy Sweeny said. “This is the first time that in probably a decade that something has been happening physically to the building to improve them. So, it’s a step in the right direction."
The plan is for these structures to make them commercial on the first level with restaurants and shops and then living areas on the second level.
