MORE COMING LATER ON. KRIS: BREAKING NEWS OUT OF FORT LEAVENWORTH WHERE A MAN IS DEAD AFTER BEING HIT BY A TRAIN. NEWS CHOPPER 9 WAS OVER THE SCENE NEAR THE SHERMAN ARMY AIRFIELD. THE FORT LEAVENWORTH EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING A FRONT LOADER WHEN IT HAPPENED. PARAMEDICS TOOK THE WORKER TO A HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY BY THE NTSB THE UNION PACIFIC AND FORT LEAVENWORTH. NO OTHER DETAILS HAVE BEEN RELEASED

An employee at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., was killed after being struck by a train.

An employee at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., was killed after being struck by a train. A spokesperson for Fort Leavenworth said the incident happened just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The man was operating a front loader near the Sherman Army Airfield. Authorities identified 28-year-old Cody Clark of Leavenworth, Kan., as the victim. “The Fort Leavenworth community is deeply saddened by the loss of Cody Clark” said Col. John Misenheimer, the Garrison Commander of Fort Leavenworth. “His absence will be felt throughout our entire Fort Leavenworth family. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time."An investigation is already underway by the NTSB, Union Pacific and those on the base.The train did stop. He was pronounced dead after being treated at a hospital.
