What were some major observations from Frank Reich’s first Carolina Panthers first press conference since his appointment as head coach?

After a bedding-in period that lasted five days, Frank Reich took to the podium and spoke with media members for the first time since becoming Carolina Panthers head coach. Tuesday’s discussion covered a wide range of topics, which also represented a window into what the former quarterback wants for the franchise in the short and long term.

Reich’s appointment was met with widespread approval despite many believing Steve Wilks did enough to warrant a longer look. However, team owner David Tepper was clearly examining offensive minds throughout the interview process, with previous NFL head coaching experience something else that was essential after Matt Rhule’s mismanagement of team affairs.

There was an enormous sense of excitement within the fanbase regarding Reich’s introductory remarks. But after so long languishing in mediocrity, actions are going to speak far louder than words when it’s all said and done.

With that being said, here are five major observations from Reich’s first Panthers presser following his return to the place where he played during Carolina’s inaugural campaign.

Greeting current Carolina Panthers players

Even before the press conference got underway, Frank Reich made a big statement. Talking was not the first thing on his mind, it was shaking the hand of every current Carolina Panthers player personally before taking to the podium.

This might not seem like much, but the respect shown right out of the gate is sure to hold weight within the locker room. Something that should ensure things get off to a strong start this offseason.
